William F. Eifrig died on September 29 2025, at his home in Tucson after a long decline. He was born in Carlinville, Illinois, on August 20, 1933, and his parents were the Rev. William F. Eifrig, Sr. and Marie (Reichel) Eifrig.

 He earned degrees from Valparaiso University and the University of Michigan, and also was appointed a Fulbright Fellow for study in Germany. In 1964 he married Gail (McGrew) and they were blessed with a happy marriage of 61 years. After teaching at Valparaiso University for 38 years, Bill retired, and he and Gail began a new chapter in Arizona in 1998. 

They lived in the Sonoita-Patagonia area until 2011, when they relocated to Tucson. Bill was grateful for friends and neighbors over many years, and contributed his genial wisdom to every community of which he was a part. 

He leaves many who loved him, including his wife Gail; children Fritz (Beth); Annie; Karl (Meg) and Kate (Travis Johnson). His sister, Emilie Meiners, and brother Gustav, as well as many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews will miss their Uncle Bill.

The family extends deep gratitude to the caregiving staff at Amber Lights Senior Residence, and Catalina Hospice, for their tender and skilled care over many months.A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 11, at 2 pm, at his church, Dove of Peace Lutheran. Memorials may be made to the free concert series at Dove of Peace, or to Kino Border Initiative of Nogales, Arizona
