WILLIAM RAY BAKER, 80, of Tucson, Arizona, died peacefully on April 24, 2025 following a battle with cancer. Bill was born in Yakima, Washington to George Ray Baker and Myrel Bell Baker. He graduated from Eisenhower High School and went on to earn a degree in Business from Arizona State University and MBA from Eastern Washington University. He served in the Military as Army Sergeant during the Vietnam War.
Bill taught high school at the Navajo Reservation before he moved to Tucson where he worked for Transportation Department and retired with the City of Tucson government.
Bill loved the outdoors and southwest desert. A talented photographer, his photographs were featured in some national and local publications, phonebooks, postcards, local galleries and both airports of Arizona. Bill was compassionate and a gentle soul who supported many worthy causes especially involving youth welfare and marginalized members of society.
Bill is survived by his wife of 38 years, Nenita Navos Baker; brother-in-law, Wayne Harrington; and nephews, grandnephews and grandnieces who love him dearly.
He was predeceased by his parents, George Ray Baker and Myrel Bell; brother Bob Baker of Tallahassee, Florida; and sister Jeannie Harrington of Bellingham, Washington.
No services were held. Bill’s ashes were scattered in the desert per his wishes.
