Walter David Johnson

Walter David Johnson of Tombstone, AZ passed from this life to the next on Wednesday December 18, 2024 at Banner University Hospital in Tucson, AZ surrounded by his family. 

Walt was born at Meeker County Memorial Hospital in Litchfield, MN on March 29, 1946 to George and Charlotte Johnson. He graduated from Grove City High School in 1964 and attended Tri-State University in Angola, Indiana—graduating in 1968.

Upon graduation, he served in the U.S. Army in the Army Reserve and then went on to get his C.P.A. certification. During this time, he also joined the family business, Johnson Brothers Corporation, based in Litchfield, MN, where he worked closely with both his uncles and cousins. 

In 1978, he married Julianne Bergstrom of Grove City, MN. Together, they raised their family Whitney, Kelsey, and Haakon at Cricket Meadow Farm near Grove City, MN and enjoyed many happy years together. 

Walter is survived by his loving family Julianne Johnson of Hickory, NC, Whitney Greiffenstein (Richard, Lucia, & Oliver) of Hopkins, MN, Kelsey Leaghi (Alexandru & Esmé) of Hickory, NC, and Haakon Johnson (Carly, Rhone, & Sullivan) of Churchill, MT. He is also survived by sisters Pauline Willems of Isanti, MN and Ruth Lietzau of Litchfield, MN, and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Charlotte Johnson of Grove City, MN and sister Donna Jean Holtz of Litchfield, MN.

He will be greatly missed by all who loved him, yet his confession of faith in Christ Jesus at the end assures his family of a joyful future reunion one day.

A celebration of life will be held summer 2025, date and location yet to be determined.
