Virginia Ruth Tupper was born on January 27th, 1936, in Batavia, NY to Ruth Elizabeth Fisher and Leo Hollis Fisher Sr. She was their only girl with three brothers: Leo, Homer, and Bruce. She grew up on a farm and loved playing in the fields with her brothers and commiserating with her dog Buster when they were in trouble. She married the love of her life, Dean Tupper, on October 22, 1955, in Corfu, NY. Virginia and Dean created a great life together primarily on Lake Ontario and Conesus Lake. Dean worked in the Army National Guard and Virginia was a stay-at-home mom until she later went to work at Mixing Equipment in Rochester and Avon, NY. They raised three children: Steven, Colleen and Tammy, and enjoyed the joys and trials of life together. They created countless lifetime memories on the lakes and later in Canadice, NY. Dean unfortunately passed on August 29th, 1990.
Virginia moved to Florida in the early 1990s and eventually met Ron Wolf, who became her committed life partner until his death. They shared many happy years together, travelling, hitting the casinos, dancing, and fishing. After Ron passed in 2009; Virgina settled in Tucson, Arizona near her daughter Tammy. She joined the United Methodist Church (St. Marks) in 2011 and eventually became President of the United Methodist Women’s Association where she gained many lifelong friends and memories serving her community. Most of her last few years were spent near her daughter Colleen in Canandaigua, New York; where she loved spending time with her great grandchildren, Abigail and Noah. The family is also still mourning the recent loss of Colleen’s wonderful husband, Fred Schreiner, who passed in February this year.
In her life, Virginia fought and survived a nearly fatal car crash, two ornery (but loveable) men, and FIVE bouts of cancer. She was one helluva woman, and to say she will be missed is a gross understatement.
She is survived by her loving brother, Bruce Fisher (Marla); her children, Steven Tupper (Mia), Colleen Schreiner (Fred), Tammy Tupper Dimmig (Troy); her grandchildren, Glenn Tupper (Holly), Nick Tupper, Brianne Nichols (Daniel), Dean Holbrook, and Luna Holbrook; and her great grandchildren, Abigail, Noah, and Colter.
A memorial service will be on June 17, 2025 at 2:00pm at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church at the below address in Tucson, AZ. An interment will take place later this summer next to Dean at the Big Tree Cemetery in Livonia, NY.
