Betty Jo “Suzie” (Sorrell) Copperthite
October 24, 1935 – July 12, 2024
Suzie was born in Mena, Arkansas and chose to start a new life in Tucson immediately after high school. She worked for Pima Bank and attended the University of Arizona where she pledged the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She was a Real Estate Agent, a volunteer with the Lioness Club, and enjoyed running an Amway business.
She met C.P., a young and handsome Air Force pilot, from Virginia at the Lucky Strike bowling alley. They were married for 56 wonderful years. They lived a few years in Merced, CA and 5 winters in scenic Minot, ND. They always enjoyed spending time with their fabulous friends. They had a great family that they would travel around the world with, play games at the Casinos, and enjoy holidays and happy hour with.
Suzie passed away surrounded by family after experiencing several serious health challenges the past 3 months. She fought like a great warrior with a sweet spirit, however, her body was just worn out from the ongoing battle.
Suzie's family includes children Crystal, Cynthia and Craig. Crystal's family includes husband Larry & their children Preston, Parker & Carina; also includes Kristin & husband Joe Bedont-Combs, Ashley & husband Vince & daughter Emberly Marcucci, Laura & husband Joey Perez & daughters Ellie and Selah. Cynthia's family includes son Chad Copperthite & husband Shawn Sanders, and Shawn's children Cody Sanders & Britney Boggs & her children Corbyn, Allie & Reign.
She will be deeply missed & forever cherished in our hearts. She will be remembered for her infectiously happy & friendly personality, her love of all things sparkly, her love of cats, and her flair for being a social butterfly.
Service to be held at Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Marana, AZ August 2, 2024 at 10am.
