STUART SANFORD MOSER
Stuart Sanford Moser passed away peacefully on 18 July 2025, in Tucson Arizona at the age of 102. Stuart was born on 19 June 1923, in Philadelphia, PA where he spent his youth and was the only child of Charles Frederick and Matilda Fisch Moser.
Stuart attended Pennsylvania Military College graduating with a B.S. in Business Administration in 1943 and enlisted in the Army the same year. He completed basic infantry training at Camp Croft, South Carolina. He was assigned to the 4th Infantry Division which deployed to England in March of 1944 to prepare for the Normandy invasion. The Division landed at Utah Beach on D-Day and helped clear the Cotentin Peninsula. In late August following D-Day, he was assigned to a special unit to work with the French Resistance in apprehending Nazi officials trying to escape to Argentina through southern France.
After the war, he married Judith Joy Goodman on 8 May 1947 in New York City. They were blessed with three children, Lawrence F. Moser, Jeffrey M. Moser, and Anne E. Piña. Stuart worked in retail and department store management until 1969. He then worked as a Risk Management Consultant for a variety of clients until his retirement in 1984. After visiting Tucson a few times and liking it so much, they relocated to Tucson the following year. They both volunteered at the Saguaro National Parks (East & West) in Tucson and later at the Catalina State Park in Oro Valley until Judy’s passing on 8 July 1998. Following the loss of his beloved wife Judy, Stuart continued to volunteer at the Catalina State Park until February of 2018. They were happily married for 51 years.
Stuart loved life and made friends wherever he went. He had an amazing memory and seemed to never run out of stories from his life experiences. He was one of a kind and will be missed by all who knew him.
Stuart is survived by his three forementioned children, three grandchildren: Jason Piña, Adam Piña, Shanna K. Moser and two great-grandchildren: Leonardo Piña and Lilly Piña.
