In Loving Memory of Ruel Raymond Hardy

January 29, 1945 – October 29, 2025

Ruel Raymond Hardy, 80, of Green Valley, Arizona, passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 29, 2025. He spent his last days at home surrounded by family and loved ones.

Ruel was born January 29, 1945, to Emmit Oliver Hardy and Mildred Scott Hardy in Natchitoches, Louisiana.

Ruel built a successful career in industrial construction. More importantly, he faithfully served many people through his callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was faithful and true to the gospel of Jesus Christ, including service in the North Dakota Mission at age 21, serving as Bishop in Pasadena, Texas, and fulfilling various other callings throughout his life.

Ruel and Patricia Annette Stouder were sealed together for eternity on February 16, 1972, in the Salt Lake City Temple. Their marriage was blessed with seven children, 18 grandchildren, and three

great-grandchildren, and he cherished every moment spent with them as “Papa.”

Ruel is survived by his wife, Patricia Stouder Hardy, to whom he was devoted for over 50 years. He is also survived by their children: Randall Hardy, Lynnette Hardy, Tanya Celeste Kidd, Sonya Spencer, Gina Manwaring, Melissa Kelly, and Matthew Hardy, and their families. He is survived by one brother, Justin Hardy, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his siblings: Emmit Ray Hardy, Carl Hardy, and Edith Salter.

Ruel dedicated his life to serving the Lord and to cherishing his wife and family. Though he will be deeply missed, we will carry his stories, his songs, and his love in our hearts, and we look forward to the day we see him again.

Dedicatory services will be held November 7, 2025 at 10:00 am at Avenidas Cremation and Burial: 1376 W St. Mary’s Rd, Tucson, AZ 85745. In lieu of flowers, Ruel and Patricia would be grateful if donations are made to United Way Jamaica - Hurricane Melissa Disaster Relief: LINK
