Raymond Rexach, better known to loved ones as Lee, died on Wednesday January 29, 2025 at the age of 75. He was born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico on January 15, 1950 and lived both in Puerto Rico and New York City in his youth, enlisting in the Army in 1967.
His time of Military service had him serve during the Vietnam War. He was trained as a respiratory technician overseas stationed in Germany. Lee was a Jack of all trades, having a long career in stage management followed by careers in carpentry, electrical repair, hospitality, and patient care. He was most proud of his role as “papi” and later “papa” to his children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter.
Lee’s greatest joy, even more than Yankees baseball and Giants football, was his love for his wife Nora. During their 26 year marriage they had 4 children, hosted countless numbers of parties, and they danced at every opportunity available to them to do so. Their home was always open to old friends and new to find respite from life whenever needed. This includes dozens of spiritually adopted children through their biological children friendships, loving these friends into adulthood. Both Mommy and Papi were so proud to watch all of the successes and growing families of all of their children.
Raymond Rexach is preceded in death by his wife Honora “Nora” Rexach, mother Maria Ester Rexach, and father Jose Ramon Pacheco. He is survived by his siblings: Nilsa Ines Pacheco Rexach, Margarita Nuñez, Noemi Nuñez, Roberto Nuñez II, Idalia Nuñez, and Ricardo Nuñez; his children: Jennifer Susan Luna, Danielle Lee Rexach, Lauren Maria Rausch, Ryan James Rexach, and Andrew Raymond Rexach; his children by marriage: John “Jack” Daniel Long Jr., Joseph Henry Rausch, and Alison Courtney Rexach; most proudly his grandchildren: Jake Thomas Luna, Mckenzie Elaine Luna, Cassidy Marion Luna, Gabriel Aron Rexach, Brandon Clark Romero Jr., Trilyon Alicia Ramirez, Destiny Jaden Montoya, Ace Owen Rexach, Ryder William Rexach, and Charlie Alexander Rexach Long, and finally his great-granddaughter, Arielie Margarita Vega.
Raymond’s family want to extend their sincerest thanks to all the medical professionals, family, and friends who helped them ensure their fathers quality of life and dignity. We truly believe he is with his greatest love, Nora - dancing, laughing, and telling stories that are larger than life - just like him.
