Ralph Flores, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on August 31, 2025.

Born on July 25, 1955, in San Jose, California, to Carlos Flores and Sally Padilla, Ralph spent his childhood in Tucson, Arizona, surrounded by his seven siblings. Together, they built forts, skated on a single roller skate, and collected bugs and lizards to trade for candy—memories that became the foundation of their lifelong bond.

Ralph attended Amphi High School, where he became a two-time chess champion and pursued boxing at a local club. At the age of 22, he met the love of his life, Mercedes, with whom he shared 45 years of marriage. Together they raised two children, first in Tucson and later in Phoenix, where Ralph devoted himself to his family. He was highly involved in their education and especially proud of supporting his son’s basketball journey, rarely missing a game.

A skilled craftsman, Ralph dedicated more than 20 years to his work as a screen builder, eventually running his own business. Outside of work, he enjoyed crossword puzzles, poker, and cheering on the University of Arizona Wildcats. His love for U of A became a family tradition, passed down to his children and nephews through season tickets in the “nosebleed” section—where the memories mattered more than the view.

Ralph cherished his grandchildren, each lovingly given a special nickname only he would call them—Junior, Kitty, LJ, and Renee. Though known for his strong will and stubborn nature, Ralph’s heart was immense, and his devotion to family never wavered. He will be profoundly missed, forever remembered with love, and held dearly in our hearts. Until we meet again…

Ralph was welcomed into eternal rest by his parents, Carlos Flores and Sally Padilla; his brother, Robert Flores; and his grandson, Angel Garcia. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Mercedes Flores; his children, Ralph Flores (Erica) and Sandra Garcia (Joseph); his cherished grandchildren, RJ Flores, Katarina Flores, Lucas Flores, and Gabriella Garcia; as well as his siblings, A. Michael Flores, David Flores, Anthony Flores, Richard Flores, Annie Figueroa, and Sally Borboa.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at our Lady of Guadalupe Monastery 8502 W. Pinchot Ave, Phoenix, Arizona 85037. Mass will be at 11 a.m. followed by reception.
