Mavis LaVonne Albers, born on January 17, 1936, in Cleveland, Ohio, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025, in Tucson, Arizona. She lived a life rich in service, community spirit, and unwavering dedication to her family and friends.

Mavis's professional and personal life revolved around a profound commitment to her community, exemplified by her involvement with the Dairy Queen, which served as a home base for many cherished relationships. She believed in the philosophy that a community functions much like a farm: when you strive to nurture and support it, the community reciprocates, fostering a sense of belonging for everyone involved.

Mavis was a devoted member and volunteer of Sacred Heart Church from 1955 until 2023, and she continued her spiritual journey as a member of St. Odilia from 2023 to 2025. Her faith was an anchor throughout her life, inspiring her to invest time and effort in various charitable endeavors. She volunteered and supported numerous organizations, including Helen Keeling School, the Parent-Teacher Organizations of Amphi Junior High and Amphitheater High School, and Scouting. Mavis also contributed to the Amphi Foundation and supported initiatives in literacy through programs like the Angel Charity for Children, Junior League of Tucson (JLT), the Salvation Army, and the Pima County Animal Care Center (PCACC).

Mavis cherished her family above all else, and her memories will be forever treasured by her daughters, Michelle (Frank), Deborah (Tim), and Carrie (Chuck), as well as her son, Mike (Kathy).

Preceding her in death were her beloved parents, John and Flossie Bennett, along with three sisters and one brother. They, along with Mavis’s warm spirit, will be remembered fondly by all who knew and loved her.

Mavis’s life was one of compassion, kindness, and dedication to others. Her legacy will continue to inspire those who seek to build and support their communities, reflecting the values she held dear throughout her life.
