Lester Allen Zell, 91, left this world for his heavenly home on Monday, July 21, 2025, Tucson, Arizona.
He was born on July 1, 1934, in Howard County, Indiana. Lester lived a life filled with love, quiet strength, and devotion to his family and God. Lester had a gentle soul, a kind heart, and a steady presence that made everyone feel safe and loved. He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Joyce Marie Zell. He was a devoted Father to Pamela Santiago (preceded him in death), Linda Chapman, Karen Zell (Bill Ferrier), and Diane Campbell (preceded him in death). Lester was a proud and loving Grandfather and Great-Grandfather, and his family was the source of his inspiration.
He is fondly remembered by his Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.
Pamela Santiago: Grandson, Bradley Abeyta; Ryan Abeyta; Great-Grandchildren, Devon Abeyta and Ryli Clark.
Linda Chapman: Granddaughter, Heather Witherspoon (DiMera Witherspoon); Great- Grandchildren, Jayden Chapman, Desmond Witherspoon, and Daxon Witherspoon.

Lester is also survived by his brother Dale Zell (Nancy) and was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mildred Zell, his daughters Pamela and Diane, siblings Martha, George, Donald, Phillip and Mary. Lester cherished spending time with his family, but he also loved fishing, traveling the country in his RV, and playing card games with friends and family. He played on a senior league baseball, was a basketball referee, and participated in church mission trips to Africa and Arizona. His love, patience, and quiet wisdom will live on through these experiences.
As Lester requested, there will be no formal service. His family will honor him in the way he lived — with love, peace, and gratitude for the many beautiful memories he leaves behind.
