Joy Beth Bormann, born December 14,1946 in Metropolis, Illinois, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2024. Joy is remembered for her generous spirit, joyful and outgoing personality, and relentlessly inquisitive mind.

Joy moved to Colorado as a child, where she attended Manitou Springs High School and later earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. In her professional life, she enriched communities of higher education through development work at Colorado College and Principia College.

As a mother, Joy instilled in her children the value of strong emotional bonds while also demonstrating the importance of independence through ingenuity, thrift, and a vigorous work ethic.

In recent years, Joy had a passion for traveling. She loved visiting family and friends, always generously sharing her time and energy. She was a life-long learner, always seeking answers to life's biggest questions. As such, she was a devoted student of Christ and active member of the Christian Science Church.

She is survived by her husband Rocky Arnott, children Julie Cooke(Tim Kohl), Annabel (Chris) Cieply, Daniel (Elizabeth) Fritz, Raina (Tetsuya) Nakamura, Jeremiah (Allison) Fritz, and James (Melanie D’Evelyn) Arnott.

She was raised by her parents Mary and Paul Bormann with two sisters and two brothers, Nancy (Lawrence) Torguson (deceased); Paulette Weaver; Fred (Joan) Bormann; Noel (Danna Zahller) Bormann.

She cherished her nine grandchildren, five nieces, three nephews, and as her mom would say, “more cousins than you could shake a stick at.”

Also, Joy shared her life married to Roger Fritz (deceased) and Byron Walter (divorced).

As she lived her socially rich life, she maintained an uncountable number of friendships all over the world from church, work, and everyday encounters with her effusive, outgoing attitude.

There is no in-person service is planned. Her memory will be honored through the many lives she touched and the love she shared. In lieu of flowers, please send any contributions to the church or charity of your choice.
