John M. Weeks
August 21, 1938 to April 26, 2025
John M. Weeks Jr. was born in Jacksonville, Florida and passed peacefully at home in Tucson, AZ on April 26, 2025 at the age of 86. He was survived by his wife Flo, daughter Kristen, son-in-law Brad, two grandchildren Sawyer and Ben, brother Bill, niece Stephanie, sister and brother-in-law Pam and Lee and niece Amber, and extended cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister Beverly, his mother Ethel and his father John.
John married his sweetheart, Flo in 1960 and they were together for nearly 65 years at the time of his passing in 2025. John was successful in different types of sales (pharmaceutical, homes and investments) over the years but his true calling was as a master gardener and landscape designer. He was always on-call for horticulture advice for friends and neighbors and his gardens were vibrant, harmonious and thoughtful. He also believed in education and he was knowledgeable and skilled in many areas. He earned undergraduate degrees from UC Riverside and Arizona State University and a master’s degree from University of Arizona. He enjoyed reading several newspapers a day and engaging in lively conversations on multiple topics. He appreciated and accomplished large-scale do-it-yourself home improvement projects. These conversations and projects will be missed by family, friends and his cat, Bazel. A devoted animal lover, John’s many pets over the years received much love and kindness. Throughout his life, John worked to make a difference for animals, contribute to social justice issues and movements, write to his local representatives about environmental preservation, and supported education for all. Memorial donations may made in John’s name to the Tucson Wildlife Center or to the American Indian College Fund.
