Jeanne Mary Rose Chavanelle

Jeanne Mary Rose Chavanelle, 92, of Tucson, AZ died April 11, 2024, at The Forum of Tucson Assisted Living. Jeanne was born on April 14, 1931, to parents Hormisdas Martel and Bernadette (Perkins) Martel in Manchester, NH. She married Roger Oliva Chavanelle on July 1, 1950. They had 3 children, Armand, Susan, and Marc. She worked as a payroll Supervisor for Cole of California. She was active as a Girl Scout Leader, in PTA, with Secret Pals, and an involved parishioner and Eucharistic Minister at St Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Long beach, CA. There, she was part of a group that regularly drove to Mexico to assist with an orphanage outside of Tijuana. After moving to Fellowship Square Active Retirement in Tucson in 2001, she continued serving the Catholic community there as a Eucharistic Minister. She received a PTA Honorary Life membership and the Elizabeth Ann Seton Award. She was a life-long devout Catholic.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Alfred and Armand, sisters Irene, Blanche, & Laura, husband Roger, and son Marc. She is survived by her sisters Doris Samson, Pauline Kelley, a brother Robert Martel, sister- in- laws Lorriane Richards & Rita Chavanelle, son Armand (Debbie) of Tucson, daughter Susan (Chuck) Deane of Anaheim, CA, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Private graveside services will be held at All Souls Cemetery in Long Beach, CA. Her favorite cat, Taffy, cremains were buried with Jeanne at her request. Memorial contributions in her memory may be sent to a charity of your choice.
