With great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Jacqueline Sue (Hawlish) Lawton on November 12, 2023 in Tucson, Arizona at age 85. Born on September 3, 1938, Jaci spent a happy childhood in Alhambra, California. She graduated with the Alhambra High School Class of 1956.

Jaci had a lifelong connection to the ocean. She lived most of her adult life near the Pacific Coast, enjoying countless trips to its beautiful beaches. Known for her dry wit and keen sense of humor, Jaci enjoyed fashion and she had great style. Her accomplished career as a Savings and Loan Branch Manager spanned over 30 years. Jaci was an avid reader, an excellent seamstress and knitter, and a skilled gardener. Shopping and discovering a great thrift were favorite pastimes.

While Jaci excelled in her career and hobbies, nothing compared to her love for her children, Lisabeth, Leslie, and Steven, her grandchildren, and her great grandchildren. They were the light of her life, bringing her lifelong joy and happiness. Jaci also had a tender heart for her many beloved pets. Throughout life’s challenges, Jaci’s strong Christian faith sustained her.

Jaci is predeceased by her father, Daniel Hawlish, mother, Pearl Hawlish, brother, Timothy Hawlish, and her son, Steven Lawton. She is survived by her sister, Karen Teele (Cassius), daughters Lisabeth Mertins (Joseph) and Leslie Stefferson (Warren), grandchildren Adam, Lindsay, Jordan, Michael, Andrew, Ethan, Hannah, Tiana, and Savannah, great grandchildren Alexander, Ava, and Ashton, nephews Daniel, Patrick, Jesse, and Dana, great nephews Nathan and Logan, and great niece Kyla.

A Celebration of Jaci’s life will be announced at a later date. Donations in her memory can be made to https://redlandshumane.org . Resting in Heaven, Jaci is forever loved and never forgotten.
