Dirk Schindel passed away with his wife at his side on May 2nd, 2024. Born in Berlin, Germany, to Ursula Meyer Pyritz and Rolf Schindel, he grew up in Berlin and moved to the U.S. in the late 60’s. An avid traveler, Dirk delighted in adventures by land, air and sea. He found sheer joy in touring the Black Hills of South Dakota on his Honda Gold Wing, boating across Lakes Vermillion, Minnetonka and Superior to name a few, climbing the mountains of Arizona on a four-wheeler, visiting with friends coast to coast in his RV, traveling to his homeland overseas or a quiet Sunday drive. A former Systems Analyst for Medtronic, Dirk was the go-to person for any IT question, a proud NYT Wordle expert, a German American translator, a fount of knowledge on any topic from wiring LED lights to world news and the ultimate tour guide when traversing through Germany. He is remembered most for his kind spirit and devotion to family and friends. Nothing brought him greater joy than holding hands with his sweetheart wife, a visit with his children/grandchildren/great grandchild or helping a friend.

Although formal in his initial interactions, Dirk quickly put people at ease with his witty sense of humor. A loyal friend, Dirk was a proud and faithful member of “Breakfast with the Guys,” attending weekly visits via Zoom no matter where he was on a Saturday morning. His friendship will be dearly missed by many.

Dirk was preceded in death by his father, Rolf Schindel, mother, Ursula Meyer Pyritz and daughter-in-law, Annie. He is survived by his wife Connie, son Martin, daughter Petra (Johnson), grandson Brock, granddaughter Morgan, great-grandson Leo and many extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.

We look forward to gathering together with family and friends for a celebration of life this summer. Please direct any memorials to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society https://www.lls.org/partner/c…
