Delmas "Del" Wilson Davis, a son, a brother, a Godfather,a friend, and a skilled carpenter with an adventurous spirit, passed away on August 14, 2024, at the age of 73.

Del was born on March 12, 1951 in Los Angeles, California. During his early childhood he moved with his family to Berkeley, California and attended St Joseph Elementary School and St. Mary’s High School. After graduating, Del enlisted in the United States Marine Corps proudly serving his country for 2 years . Del returned to Berkeley, where he pursued his passion for carpentry and continued his military service in the Reserves . He had a long career as an accomplished carpenter and craftsman. His work can be seen in numerous homes and buildings throughout the Bay Area, each piece a testament to his craftsmanship .

Del was also an adventurous soul, with a deep love for travel. Central America, particularly Guatemala and Belize, held a special place in his heart. He spent significant time there, working, exploring, and forming lifelong friendships. Del's travels were not just about seeing new places but about connecting with people and immersing himself in different cultures. Belize became a second home to him, where he was embraced by the local community.

Del’s adventurous nature extended to the skies. He loved to fly very large kites attached to a buggy at the Berkeley Marina a pastime that brought him peace and happiness. He also was an avid skydiver, always seeking the thrill and freedom of flight.

Del was also deeply committed to his sobriety, a journey he began over 30 years ago. He was an active and beloved member of the Alcoholic Anonymous Fellowship, where he found support, purpose, and lifelong friends. His sobriety was a source of great pride, and he helped and inspired many others along the way.

In his later years, Del relocated to Tucson Arizona, where he enjoyed his final working years and retirement in the warm sunshine. Despite the distance, his connection to his Berkeley roots and the friendships he made along the way remained strong.

Del is survived by his many friends from all corners of his life, from Berkeley to Belize, from the sober community to his fellow carpenters. He will be remembered for his kindness, his sense of adventure, and his willingness to help his friends and acquaintances.

A celebration of Del's life will be held at a later date to be determined . In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Del’s name to a charity that supports sobriety or to a community organization in Belize that was close to his heart.

Del lived life on his own terms, with passion, and a love for the people and places that touched his heart. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
