David Lee Ellis of Tucson AZ

July 24, 1959 – May 16, 2025

Age 66

David passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 16, 2025.

David is survived by his companion of over 30 years, Diane Casillas-Ellis. His 4 step children, Juan De La Cruz, Adam De La Cruz, Lissett De La Cruz and Diego De La Cruz. As well as his 11 grandchildren whom he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents Rosie and Morris best friend Billy and his two longtime dogs Sasha and Shay.

David was a kind and generous man. He joined the Navy at a young age, once he finished his time there, he returned to Tucson, where he met up with his long-time companion and best friend, Diane Casillas-Ellis. David was a roofer for most of his life. He enjoyed going on trips with his family, every trip was a memorable experience. Fishing and camping were some of his favorite hobbies. He enjoyed family time, playing cards and dominoes with the guys or watching football. David possessed a wealth of knowledge on a wide range of topics he was the go-to guy for everything. From a handyman, to a mechanic, you could always call him for help or words of wisdom. Even as he grew older, he continued to show up and help everyone. As the grandkids would say, he was the best Grandpa ever.

Although David’s physical presence may no longer grace our lives, his spirit will still live and uplift us all. May all the memories you share with David bring you peace and comfort, may his memory be a blessing.

A celebration of life will be held on June 28th at 4444 E Benson Hwy at the Town and Country Club house from 3:00 to 8:00pm.
