Claudia Mae Ellis, Beloved Mother, Oracle of the Family, and Friend Passes Away at [81]
Tucson Arizona– It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Claudia Mae Ellis, who peacefully departed from this world on February 15th, at the age of 81. She left us in the presence of one of her loving daughters and cherished memories, following a courageous battle with Cancer.
Born on December 23rd, 1942, in Jacksonville, Florida, Claudia Ellis was the cherished daughter of Josephine Farmer. Growing up in Newark, New Jersey, Claudia tirelessly devoted herself to a hospital job, where she dedicated 25 years of service before retiring. Later, she relocated to Tucson, Arizona, to join her son and his family. Her boundless passion and unwavering dedication touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Claudia embodied boundless love, warmth, and kindness, epitomizing grace and generosity. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family, offering unwavering support and inspiration. Through her delicious homemade meals, serious demeanor, and unwavering loyalty, often to her detriment, she effortlessly communicated care and understanding and impacted all who knew her without uttering a word most of the time.
Claudia Ellis' unwavering devotion to her family was the cornerstone of our lives. She exuded strength and served as our anchor through moments of both joy and sorrow. Claudia's love knew no bounds, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and integrity that will forever illuminate our path forward. In her leisure moments, she delighted in the company of her beloved grandchildren, her desire for their well-being unconditional. Finding solace in simple pleasures, Claudia enjoyed leisurely moments playing bingo and games on her tablet, as well as indulging in lottery tickets and scratch-offs, pastimes she cherished dearly. She adored playing the lottery and had a passion for travel, with Orlando, Florida, and San Diego, California, holding special places in her heart.
Claudia Ellis was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Beauford Ellis, her mother Josephine Farmer, her brother Willie Frank Smith, her sister-in-law Della Smith, her daughters Josephine (Tiny) Farmer and Carmen Joyce Ellis, as well as her son-in-law Terry Oloyede and grandson Terry Oloyede Jr. She is survived by 5 of her seven children: Josephine, Bridgett, Darrell, Carmen, Kenya, Tyra, and Kevin. Claudia leaves behind a legacy of love in her 17 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She held dear friendships with Tina and Lucille from New Jersey, who were her constant companions and confidantes.
Though we grieve the departure of our cherished mother, we find solace in the reunion she now shares with those who preceded her. Her memory will forever reside in our hearts, a source of enduring strength derived from the boundless love she gifted us throughout her life.
As her oldest son, I stand here today with a heart heavy with grief yet filled with an overwhelming sense of gratitude. My mother has been a cornerstone of my life, a constant presence who shaped me into the person I am today. Her love knew no bounds, her guidance unwavering, and her strength unmatched.
These last two years, as she faced the relentless challenges of cancer, my admiration for her grew immeasurably. Despite the pain and suffering, she remained a beacon of courage and resilience, teaching me invaluable lessons about grace in the face of adversity.
My dear mother, your absence leaves a void that cannot be filled. I will miss our daily conversations and your unwavering belief in me. But I take solace in knowing that your love will continue to guide me, lighting the path ahead even in your physical absence.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Claudia Ellis’ remarkable life will be scheduled for a later date to ensure the attendance of all family members, some of whom are traveling from out of state.
As we bid farewell to our beloved mother, let us cherish her memory with smiles and laughter, honoring her wish to be remembered as a radiant beacon of light and love in our lives.
Rest peacefully, beloved mother, knowing that your legacy of love, fortitude, and compassion will endure in the hearts of all who were touched by your presence. Until we reunite, know that you will be profoundly missed, deeply cherished, and forever loved.
With Love,
Darrell and Family.
