Cherie Marie (Valois) Friederichs, 88 of Foxhome, Minnesota and Green Valley, Arizona passed away, peacefully on December 15, 2024 – Gaudate (Rejoice) Sunday.
Cherie was born August 21, 1936 to Peter Valois Jr. and Violet (Kempski) Valois in St. Paul, Minnesota. She attended St. Rose of Lima school and graduated from Central High School in St. Paul.
After graduating from high school she briefly attended nursing school. At which time, she met Robert Francis (Bob) Friederichs, who was attending Ag School at the University of Minnesota, at a church function. She caught his eye as they played a rousing game of Wink’em. Cherie and Bob were married June 4, 1955 and shared 63 beautiful years together on their farm in Foxhome, Minnesota. When retirement age neared, they spent time traveling south and eventually bought a home in Green Valley, Arizona, where they spent their winters, enjoying a respite from the Minnesota cold, but always happy to return to the farm when spring would come. In Green Valley they enjoyed socializing with many friends, both old and new and having family visit often.
Cherie was a loving wife and mother, a quiet lady, with a quick wit and a strong will. She loved her faith and family. She was an accomplished cook and homemaker and avid reader. Cherie enjoyed her gardens, cooking and sewing. She happily passed her many homemaking skills on to her children and grandchildren.
Cherie is survived by her children Marie (Dave) Hestdalen, Valerie (Eugene {Geno}) Noll, Robert G. (Bob) (Barb) Friederichs, Peggy Rivard, Peter (Sheri) Friederichs, Bill (Chris) Friederichs, Chuck (Michelle) Friederichs, Matt (Julie) Friederichs, 34 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, a sister Vicki (Ron) Rath, four sisters-in-law: Sharon (Bob) Valois, Mary (Myron) Heger, Betty (David) Friederichs and Sr. Ann Marie Friederichs, brother-in-law: Dave Kielsa and many nieces, nephews and cousins
