Anthony Fortunado Tretola, age 79, found peace on July 30, 2025.
He was born May 17, 1946 in Brooklyn, NY to Fortunado and Antoinette Tretola.
Anthony was married for 36 years to Nancy Tretola until her passing in 2013. He shared 11 years with his loving companion, Adelaide Somerfield.
Anthony was a school teacher and worked construction after graduating from St John's University in 1969, until his journey led him out west to Tucson, AZ in 1976. He then followed his passion for business and enjoyed a life long career in bread distribution.
Anthony loved the West. The change of pace from his big city upbringing, the beauty of the desert and of the mountains, the warm and open air, Arizona suited him in his own rugged way. His occupation allowed him to spend much of his work day in the great outdoors, which was an important quality for him.
Anthony was a pillar of strength to all those around him. His devotion to his family and his work is his legacy. He made himself available to help, support and spend quality time with his loved ones. He also had a great appreciation for animals, and everyone knew how much he adored his beloved dogs. His dogs were family and a great source of comfort.
Anthony is survived by his companion Adelaide Somerfield, his daughter Desiree Arnold, his grandson's Treyce Arnold, Jai Arnold and his sister Phyllis Manicone.
A memorial service will be held on August 30 10:00-1:00 at Calvary Chapel located at 8711 E. Speedway Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Anthony's memory to charities he supported; Hope Rising Arizona or The Animal League of Green Valley.
