Alberto Alfredo Agraan, affectionately known as “Beto,” “Satch,” and “Big Al,” passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of August 13, 2025, at his home in Tucson, Arizona. He was 74 years old.
Alberto was born on June 1, 1951, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Tucson, Arizona, to Maria (deceased) and Alfredo Agraan (deceased). He grew up in a lively family with four sisters, Aida (deceased), Ana, Adriana (deceased), and Abbey, and was the only son.
In Tucson, Alberto reconnected with his childhood friend, Phyllis Valencia, who became the love of his life. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, family, and love. Alberto helped raise Stephanie, Isaac, and Abraham as his own children and later welcomed his daughter Aida into the world. He took pride in being a devoted father and grandfather, always putting his family at the center of his life.
Alberto worked for many years at West Press, a local print shop, where his dedication and work ethic were widely admired. Beyond work, he lived life with joy and curiosity. A passionate fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Lakers, and Raiders, he also loved boxing, football, and shooting pool. He had a lifelong love for collecting, including model cars, coins, Ring magazines, and music in vinyl records, cassettes, and CDs. He was an avid reader, especially of Stephen King novels, and a devoted movie-watcher. Known for his impeccable sense of style, Alberto loved to dress sharply and carry himself with confidence. He was the heart of every gathering, a natural jokester, and the life of the party. His home was always open to family, friends, and neighbors, where weekend barbecues created warmth, laughter, and cherished memories.
Every summer, Alberto looked forward to returning to Los Angeles to visit family and continue a cherished tradition, annual trips to Disneyland with Phyllis and their daughter Aida, which brought joy and lasting memories.
Alberto will be remembered for his hard work, humor, style, and the love he poured into his family and community. His presence brought joy to those around him, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his beloved partner, Phyllis Agraan, his children, Stephanie, Isaac, Abraham, and Aida, his grandchildren, and his sisters Abbey and Ana, along with many extended family members and friends.
A rosary in honor of Alberto’s life will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 8650 N. Shannon Rd., Tucson, AZ 85742. Following the services, interment of his ashes will take place at Holy Hope Cemetery, 3555 N. Oracle Rd., Tucson, AZ 85705.
